We're gonna need a bigger boat

Mid-way through my morning commute, one day this week,
in the middle of desert nowhere--appeared a woman
riding a moped.  A really, really, tiny moped. The kind with pedals and a super
small engine, riding along on the shoulder of the highway.
For all intents and purposes, it just appeared as if she suddenly decided
to ride the 45 miles from my town to the next town, through the unpopulated desert,
on her NYC moped at 15 mph----it was one of the most unusual sites
I've seen lately on the desert highway to nowhere.

Currently:

I have the 1980's British Chieftain main battle tank physically completed,
requiring only detail work to finish.
I built and painted a base for this model appearing as a paved highway
somewhere in Europe.
My plan is to combine the Chieftain with another 1980's British armored vehicle,
The Scorpion tracked reconnaissance vehicle
to appear as if both these vehicles were in transit on a public roadway
during peace time military exercises.

The project plan over the next few days is to complete
detailing the Chieftain, constructed streetlights, manhole covers etc.
for the roadway base, and begin construction of the Scorpion.
I will provide bad photo's when completed.

So, Syria next.
We never learn.

I have a few days over and beyond the holiday in which
i am planning on maintaining myself which is an ongoing project of mine.
I need a tune up mentally, physically and style wise.

Mexican ladies car washing society

I've promised photographs of completed models.

Above and below are photographs of my completed SovietASU-85 assault gun
in the foreground
and a Soviet BRDM  armored car directly behind.
I am still experimenting, attempting to find a visually correct
green color for soviet armor.

I start construction tomorrow on a Tamiya, British Chieftain main battle tank.

Chieftains are beautiful vehicles, if a tank can be called beautiful,
the E type Jaguar of the 1970's to 90's tank world.
I hope i can do a decent job with it and will display photo's when
completed.

I am OCD in many ways.
I wash my new truck
twice a week at lunch time.
At the Spray wash during the week at noon time
there is me
 and
20 Hispanic women with their kids, washing their cars.

Detailing the family car actually.
They work like hell on it as if the family truckster will
be appearing in a car show that afternoon.
Mexico is a big car culture...
So there's me and 20 Mexican mom's washing our cars.
I call it the
 Mexican Ladies car washing society.

some people will
actually wonder why.

rain

I have been unable to find material for sale to drive on
with my watchmaking experiments.
Watch movements, dial, and cases are sold out
at my normal suppliers. It appears as if i may have to
put my watch building on hold until supplies
become available again?
Since i cannot obtain supplies I am testing a new watch
supplier from China by ordering a homage Marina Militare
variety I had never seen available before an MM194:

An interesting thing about this self winding, mechanical movement copy of
a Panerai watch is the power reserve gauge indicating how
many hours of operation there is left in the mainspring.

Rain again this week in the high desert.
We here are the Freemen in the novel Dune
water is special to us while others waste it.

I've heard the theory that no matter how hard we try not to:
we all eventually,wind up looking
like old lesbians----
There is much truth in that.........

The elites that run the stock market suddenly discovered
this week that our economy
is shit, and dropped 200 points.

I've just ordered a pair of Julbo Vermont Mountain sunglasses.
They were the closest thing i could find to the mondo cool
glasses Morgan Freeman wore in Obvilion....
Had to, just had to. Couldn't help myself.

Currently reading "Too Much Magic" by James Howard Kunstler.
People either enjoy Kunstler and his scathing commentary on
our current society, or they hate him for his honesty.
Me? I can't get enough of his writing.

little things mean alot

The toughest thing about blogging for me now
is resisting the rant.
There is much to rant about during this twilight of our American society.
Failure of our elites, transference of wealth to the oppressors,
destruction of our infrastructure for profit.
It is very, very difficult to dismiss these things as a
natural event and to observe without commenting.
Observing without comment is a factor in my internal training regime'.

Observation without comment requires discipline, and a
Zen like commitment to remaining calm and still while
allowing events to unfold.
Discipline to ignore the PR spin of authority units.
Discipline to understand the death spiral of our stupidity.
Discipline to accept Chaos as a by-product of a society that fails to advance.

I am working on this concept as hard as i can.........

I ordered two shirts on sale.
It amazes me how $60.00 shirts can be suddenly marked down to
a reasonable price level of $25.00.
How's this work?
I just cannot understand capitalism?

Both of these shirts from an Internet dealer, Craighopper.
The top shirt is a Bear Gylls product, the lower shirt from a company called Kiwi.
These are excellent shirts..
Taking more of an interest in how i appear
is another part of my re-invention process.
Trying to be more put together and less of the
wrinkled, average old white man.

Just received, Oblivion.
We'll be watching it this coming weekend and I'll report our
beliefs and feelings on this film.

I also pre-ordered, World War Z, due to be released
09/17/13

Just ordered and in route

Twilight of the Elites is excellent and i have almost completed it.
I have wanted but resisted ordering James Kunstler's new book.
There were widely varying reviews on it but i did finally order it.
I seemed to have traveled through the desert of not reading.
I am enjoying reading again and find time for it now.

Driving into work this week there were several dogs
wandering the roads in heavy, morning traffic.
I just hated this..

Dumped or homeless dogs in the road is a true sign
that we are living a third world existence.
My heart just bleeds for them...i want to take all of
them home, take care of them, save them.
But i can't.
I then thought, we sometimes,  are dogs in the road.
Not knowing where we are, where we are going,
our eyes filled with that wildness of fear and sensory overload.
We all need to save ourselves.

we are challenged to change ourselves."
