rain

I have been unable to find material for sale to drive on
with my watchmaking experiments.
Watch movements, dial, and cases are sold out
at my normal suppliers. It appears as if i may have to
put my watch building on hold until supplies
become available again?
Since i cannot obtain supplies I am testing a new watch
supplier from China by ordering a homage Marina Militare
variety I had never seen available before an MM194:

An interesting thing about this self winding, mechanical movement copy of
a Panerai watch is the power reserve gauge indicating how
many hours of operation there is left in the mainspring.

Rain again this week in the high desert.
We here are the Freemen in the novel Dune
water is special to us while others waste it.

I've heard the theory that no matter how hard we try not to:
we all eventually,wind up looking
like old lesbians----
There is much truth in that.........

The elites that run the stock market suddenly discovered
this week that our economy
is shit, and dropped 200 points.

I've just ordered a pair of Julbo Vermont Mountain sunglasses.
They were the closest thing i could find to the mondo cool
glasses Morgan Freeman wore in Obvilion....
Had to, just had to. Couldn't help myself.

Currently reading "Too Much Magic" by James Howard Kunstler.
People either enjoy Kunstler and his scathing commentary on
our current society, or they hate him for his honesty.
Me? I can't get enough of his writing.

little things mean alot

The toughest thing about blogging for me now
is resisting the rant.
There is much to rant about during this twilight of our American society.
Failure of our elites, transference of wealth to the oppressors,
destruction of our infrastructure for profit.
It is very, very difficult to dismiss these things as a
natural event and to observe without commenting.
Observing without comment is a factor in my internal training regime'.

Observation without comment requires discipline, and a
Zen like commitment to remaining calm and still while
allowing events to unfold.
Discipline to ignore the PR spin of authority units.
Discipline to understand the death spiral of our stupidity.
Discipline to accept Chaos as a by-product of a society that fails to advance.

I am working on this concept as hard as i can.........

I ordered two shirts on sale.
It amazes me how $60.00 shirts can be suddenly marked down to
a reasonable price level of $25.00.
How's this work?
I just cannot understand capitalism?

Both of these shirts from an Internet dealer, Craighopper.
The top shirt is a Bear Gylls product, the lower shirt from a company called Kiwi.
These are excellent shirts..
Taking more of an interest in how i appear
is another part of my re-invention process.
Trying to be more put together and less of the
wrinkled, average old white man.

Just received, Oblivion.
We'll be watching it this coming weekend and I'll report our
beliefs and feelings on this film.

I also pre-ordered, World War Z, due to be released
09/17/13

Just ordered and in route

Twilight of the Elites is excellent and i have almost completed it.
I have wanted but resisted ordering James Kunstler's new book.
There were widely varying reviews on it but i did finally order it.
I seemed to have traveled through the desert of not reading.
I am enjoying reading again and find time for it now.

Driving into work this week there were several dogs
wandering the roads in heavy, morning traffic.
I just hated this..

Dumped or homeless dogs in the road is a true sign
that we are living a third world existence.
My heart just bleeds for them...i want to take all of
them home, take care of them, save them.
But i can't.
I then thought, we sometimes,  are dogs in the road.
Not knowing where we are, where we are going,
our eyes filled with that wildness of fear and sensory overload.
We all need to save ourselves.

we are challenged to change ourselves."

say what?

We have had more rain these past two months in Southeastern New Mexico
than the total rainfall over the past three years!

The desert is turning green, shit is actually growing out there.
Which in turn creates for me stuffy head and allergy dulled
consciousness.

Just an update on
 my Vostok military mechanical watch.
It is received and it is keeping just perfect, excellent time.
The standard issue Russian watchband provided with it, is actually working for me,
which is a complete surprise and outside of the norm for these watches.
It appears as if i may have gotten one of the last few remaining
Vostok military mechanicals posted for sale.

Just received these and am currently reading the Schrodinger
biography. It's ok nothing special so far..........and really
nothing to recommend unless you are like me, a complete geek.

I am taking a break from the German WW II rail gun project for a bit.
It's going to take  a couple of years to complete so really no rush---
I am currently working on a 1:48 scale MI-24 Soviet Hind attack helicopter.
It has been quite a while since i built anything aviation orientated and
there is quite a difference in size of the material you have
to work with, and the manner of construction.

I have suddenly developed a fascination with cold war
Soviet military machinery
during this break from the German Rail gun project

On the bench currently awaiting construction I have a:

and in route:

It is raining lightly today, I'm home sick and I may work on the crew members for
the BRMD armored car.
It is very relaxing to me to construct and paint.
I imagine that i will have to do some poor photography
and post photo's of the construction results when complete.

I am beginning to love my new Toyota FJ.
It is very secure feeling when driven on the highway and
I am no longer pushed around on the roadway, like a prison bitch
by soccer moms in their Ford expeditions, the
way they fucked with me when commuting in the Prius.

As strange as it may sound, in addition to the commuting security
 it also just feels good
to have an escape vehicle in case of Zombie Apocalypse?
That alone is a very weird statement on our world eh?

Things have become, well, easier for me lately?
Work has settled into a zone of nothing special.
I am accomplishing personal tasks, projects and goals.

All this after a long period of disruption, anger and frustration with life around me.

It feels really good to have things good.
