I was just given an Akai GX 4000D reel to reel tape
player/recorder this weekend...
(did i say it was Given to me.!)

Manufactured by Akai from 1978 thu 1985 this is a
7" reeled, 4 track stereo recorder..built like a tank..
It was designed as a intermediate level, affordable,
entry to reel to reel ownership...

I'm gonna have to tear it down, clean everything
on/in it, check for damage and reassemble,

prior to testing it....
I also had to order a new pair of black, take up reels..

When I was young Reel to Reel was a symbol of
coolness and style....and expensive..

I could never afford one then...
I'm not one to criticize something i got for free
but I do wish it was the 
Darth Vader style
