Retirement Project Zero for the Homestead was initiated this week.

Much like Suspect Zero or Patient Zero.. 

Retirement Project Zero is a designator for where it all begins.

Project Zero =

Disassembling, painting and organizing the

bedroom closet.

I am making excellent progress and should

have this first of at least 3 interior re-painting, re-design 

projects completed by the end of the upcoming weekend. 

I was a painter while attending college.

Many hate to paint.

I enjoy it, it is very calming to me.

I also firmly believe in the old saying:

"There is nothing that a coat of paint won't fix."

It appears as if the local weather may bounce back

for awhile.

If so then I can also start in on exterior homestead

projects

as well.

I drove the Pocket Rocket today.

It was the first nice day in two weeks.

I went to have lunch with a friend.

It was nice to get it out on the Highway.

I obtained 70 mpg at 70mph.

Round trip of over 80 miles, pretty much on

a single gallon of diesel....

I've obtained sort of a Mascot for the Pocket Rocket.

A decal for the rear window/hatch.

Marvin the Martian.

He really sort of fits as an emblem for my Pocket Rocket.

I'll be applying the decal next week after detailing.

I am planning on ordering a set of professional auto detailing

supplies this week.

I'll advise on the results.

Anita Ekberg just passed away.

She was amazingly gorgeous in the Fellini films

of the early 1960's.

The press states she pretty much died in poverty.

The world can just suck for no reason at all.

A hair cut of some kind:

I just can't figure out what type or what to do.

One of my recent projects involved redesigning and rebuilding

our phone charging area.

Our area really needed organizing.

We moved our charging station to the kitchen
which has worked out way better for us.
Once again having the time to do work like this makes all the difference.

After binge watching 3 seasons of Wallander,the Swedish Detective,

We have moved onto dicte--- a Danish police crime reporter series.

It appears as if we are stuck in the great white north of streaming Television.

One of the great things you see when watching these 
foreign TV shows is proof that not only Americans believe in
conspiracy theories about their governments...
It's good to know that everybody across the world
wears tinfoil hats.

We also started on Z Nation--by SyFy....

Style is a reflection of your 

attitude and personality.

I have accomplished many minor random objectives over the past few retired weeks.

The weather and holidays have interfered with the start of any

major homestead project.
I have therefore focused on those

odd, small, but important things
 centered around the interior of the homestead,
 around my watches, my personal gear and nerd cave re-organization.

I have really enjoyed working these tasks.

So far in retirement it appears that:

I have been getting up and working,

I have been sleeping much better,

I have been eating less while physically doing more

and

I may be smoking less.
(Maybe, not so sure on this one)

Retirement at this point appears to agree with me.

The weather here has pretty much isolated us inside

this past week.....

I keep damaging my hands when working about the place.
I am like an old ripe fruit anymore when it comes to
bruising myself ---
The standard phrase--
"Oops that's going to leave a mark"
really means something now.....

I have been watching MST3K on my laptop late at night.

Split screened while surfing or writing or working on this blog.

At this very moment while writing this segment I am watching MST3K's 

Hercules and the captive women on the other screen.

The actors are talking about the god Uranus waaaay too much in this

particular Hercules movie.

The result is excellent smart ass commentary....

I believe MST3K is the best show that ever aired.

Luckily I have years of their material to watch in retirement for the first time.

On the real TV, well streaming TV that is-----
This Police/Detective series out of Sweden is available
on Netflix and is just excellent.
I am really enjoying it.
Each episode is 1:35 long and there are twelve available
on Netflix enough to get hooked on.

Thanks to my amazing JoJo our Toyota FJ was sold today.

It was an excellent truck, ran great and I truly enjoyed owning it. 
I will miss it in some ways but.......
Retirement meant that owning two trucks and the 
smart car was just going to be too much to deal with
personally and financially.
JoJo worked a deal to sell the FJ back to our dealer and we
even made a little money.
Therefore the reasoning behind why this section is titled:
AMAZING!
Cause she is!

Rod Taylor, star of one of my all time movie favorites
"The Time Machine" (1960) has passed away at 84, in Los Angeles.
I always enjoyed him as an actor and the fact
that he starred in one of the highest production
value SF movies of his time was really something.

His film brought home to me at a very young age
the Moorlock and Eloi principle

which has helped me overcome the weirdness of human

life and disparity in general.

So I owe both Rod Taylor and this film more that

I could ever repay.

A joy I've discovered is the ability to take time 
 for very, very small projects.
One such small, but to me, very necessary project is the rebuilding of 
my mid-1980's version of the Victorinox Swiss Champ knife.
I purchased this knife in Germany 30 years ago now.

The Swiss Champ knife was the original multi-tool.
With the number of fix-it projects i am doing/starting at the homestead having
a multi-tool on me around the house has become a necessity.
 I have cleaned, sharpened and ordered several replacement parts
to refurbish my Champ.
I ordered a belt sheath since this knife is too large for
pocket carry but i want it available and on me at all times.
Working around the homestead.

I ordered replacement parts such as a fresh mini ballpoint pen

that fits in a designed slot in the knife slabs.

The original pen had dried out over the years.

and:
A new spring for the knife's scissors which snapped many years ago,
making the scissor blades unable to open and close properly.

This is a low cost project with a grand total
of twenty-one dollars invested which will provide
a totally reconditioned tool, making it much easier to immediately
fix those small bothersome things about the house.
