Things are quiet here this week...

I completed the restoration of my
previously loaned out..then recovered...
1972 Telecaster Custom...
I discussed in last week's blog..
Here it is----

I successfully repaired the broken input jack...
replaced as many of the surface parts as 
possible with blacked out items..
added a black, telecaster ashtray at the bridge..
and 
replaced the control knobs with my
preference, chicken heads...

The main question of course is 
"how does it sound..how does it play"
It sounds fucking great !
It plays even better !
I just have to figure out how to dial it in,
and what specific numbers to employ it on..

A bit ago a friend of ours who is
in her late 20's early 30's,
invited us to a party at her house.

She also advised us to invite any of our friends.
I said, thinking i was a funny guy, that
she wouldn't want any of our friends there,
all the walkers would get in the way...

She jumped right into my shit--
saying she was in no way ageist..
and was really, truly, upset 
at my reply---

I was sort of taken back..but later
thinking on it...
This was really sort of awesome and made me consider the fact,
that young people and 
 their new world are absolutely going in the right direction...

Her reaction was light years away from the world of
my 30's and honestly---so much better!
I'm very proud of young people today!

Barbour Jackets are my go to outerwear..

but extremely hard to acquire on a budget...

Henceforth my buying used from EBAY.

Last year I won a Motorcycle Barbour,

of the style favored by McQueen and

it is just awesome...

Right now I have a bid in on a 

Barbour Cowen Commando lightweight smock.

The Cowen Commando was used during the

Falklands and the first Gulf War prior to

being retired...

8 pockets, Waxed exterior for weather-proofing,

desert tan--XL for layering with a vest.

I have high hopes for this auction--

maybe for less than 50 bucks..?

If i can acquire it for that price it is

probably, because no one else would wear it, maybe?

I've begun a new guitar mechanical project.
Restoring my 1972 Telecaster Custom.
This particular model was a favorite 
of Keith Richards for close to 10 years..

This model Tele can provide rock&roll 
deep big sound and Telecaster twang at the same time.

I had loaned this guitar out for, well,
quite a few years actually and just got it back...
(I know--I do this sometimes..)

It came home a bit worse for wear..

Years ago i had the standard, Blah,
 Fender, neck Humbucker
replaced with a Fender Lace Sensor Humbucker..
for a much deeper richer sound..
 I want to get this guitar going again..
so..
I am in the process of detail cleaning this guitar,

replacing the pick guard screws with blacked out ones..
fixing the plug in jack and plate, replacing the tone and
volume knobs with a set that is easier to operate on the fly,
replacing the white selector switch with a blacked-out switch,
and adding a black telecaster "ashtray..."

I am awaiting parts delivery this week
to complete this restoration..
