Handmade

A quiet day for us today.
Although i bet the rest of the world is somewhat occupied?

This appears as if this is my last year at work.
Retirement.

This January i will be requesting the paperwork
and will probably choose 01-01-15 as the end date.

This week we received ElYSIUM.
Pre-ordered on DVD from Amazon.
An excellent film--I highly recommend.

I spent Saturday morning working on a beautiful big blond, Washburn Archtop
 I purchased multiple years ago.
This is no longer a stock guitar. I've installed black pickup covers and
antique styled volume and tone controls.
This Washburn is one of my guitars I have started using
for my solo Jazz practice.
Today i changed the strings to a light jazz set and added a vintage style strap.
While i was working i discovered that transport packing had been
left under the tail piece which had apparently been muting the guitars tone.
Strange what you find when you finally detail out a guitar.
The Washburn is back together, and sounds very good.

I am practicing--currently arranging and working out
Misty, Georgia on my Mind, Someone to Watch over me, and Masquerade.
I attempt to organize my practice sessions to
accomplish the most i can over the weekends.
I just don't have the energy to practice on weeknights after work.

I have been running my Archtops through a smaller 1-12 MarkBass amp.
This is a great amp for obtaining that mellow jazz guitar sound of the 60's.
Plus it is small but powerful and should be excellent
in case, i ever get a chance to solo jazz gig.
I do need though to remove the garnish yellow emblem from the speaker screen.

Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."
