Day 12: The expedition turns whiny....

I remain unable to come to transition with the change of season.
The darkness, cold and winter death of the gardens we worked so hard on.
I lack motivation and purpose.

I will say nothing of the world wide weirdness of the past week.
In today's world
insane acts create insane responses.
Politicians and talk radio
are spewing non-stop shit.
No need for me to add to it.
Nothing but scare tactics to influence their supporters,
into believing they are the only one who should be chosen to lead,
and that they alone can provide protection from the scary, scary world.

The state governor's who symbolically refused to accept Syrian refugee's
out of fear of them committing violent acts--
Are ruling the states that any Refugee should be
 afraid of ?
Why of course this happened in Texas where else?

My Aunt Lizzy used to, as she called it
 "go to church by radio".
Going to church by listening to the radio was to her,
as good as showing up.
It didn't apparently matter that we were Catholic,
and the the Preachers on these Radio Churches
 were to her
other-worldly strange, foot washing,snake dancing--
 totally not Catholic.
She would sit dressed in an old housecoat
at a kitchenette table, drinking coffee out of a saucer, smoking,
in a tiny east coast apartment kitchen in front of the radio on Sunday.
An hour spent listening to anyone against sin
counted as a get into heaven free card in her mind.
I can only hope that her version of the rules was right?

I transfer jazz off the net onto cassette tape.
I am creating Jazz recordings to
play on any one of my collection of old school boomboxes.
I realize this is a very peculiar hobby of mine--
when the majority of the world gets their music now
digitally off their phones...
One afternoon when i had my gear all set up
and i was taping off my laptop,
a friend from work stopped by.
As he gave a passing look at all my equipment hooked up
to the laptop on the dining room table..
 All he said was:
"You're doing this wrong you know?"

The $19.00 Marina Militare copy watch sold by Amazon arrived..
It is of excellent quality, nicely heavy and well made.
 It keeps perfect time!
Pictured here with my new para-cord bracelet.
This particular bracelet contains within
a handcuff key, fire-starter, compass, P-99 can opener,
and wire saw.
I am very pleased with both equipment additions.

This has been an excellent streaming binge watching week.
From detectives who see the dead all around them
in:
to:
Hitler watching newsreels from parallel universes
To the awesome film noir of
jessica jones
It will be tough trying to watch 1 star streaming zombie movies
 after this week....

You say that like it's a bad thing.

The very strange can happen at any moment.
I was eating lunch with a friend this week,
at our favorite, empty but for us, hamburger dive.
When, no shit, in walks Ozzy Osbourne with a crew of people?
Bear in mind I live in an area DEVOID of random
ex-rock stars walking around...DEVOID...
Add to this location devoid-ness
our hamburger spot is next door to the town bus station
with all the ambiance that statement brings to mind.
Not exactly a celebrity hangout you know?
These factors force multiply the strangeness of the Ozzy appearance situation
I found myself in.
Now if you think I am suffering from delusions
I wouldn't blame you
As proof---
here's some of the local news coverage
from the next day...

Strange can happen in blink of an eye.

Cyberpunk-like novel in route:

For a year now I have been obsessing over having to
do a required oil/filter change and find replacement tires for
my 2006 turbo diesel Brabus special edition Smart Car.
I believed i would have to train myself to do this mechanical work
and pray that a tire store might be able to replace the
very unique, required, high performance, super small tires?
I own one of the TWO turbo diesel, Barbus, super tuned
Smart Cars in the country.
I thought I could never expect to find a mechanic in my area
willing or able to work on it for me,
I feared I would have to figure it out on my own.
While dropping our Toyota Tacoma truck off for servicing at the in town
Toyota dealer this week, on a whim, I asked if they could service my Pocket Rocket?
I couldn't believe it when they said YES--no problem!
They are already ordering the special oil and filter,
and a new set of tires for me all of which was difficult to locate.
You have no concept of how relieved I am.
I was never a great mechanic back when vehicles were simple.
I was overwhelmed about not
having a fucking clue as to what i was going to have to do as well as being
absolutely sure I was going to screw up my beloved pocket rocket!
You have no idea how relieved I am...
Just awaiting their call to bring the Rocket in for treatment.

A big week for DVD's at the homestead.

Tomorrowland was apparently a bomb at the box office?
I watched it on DVD and thought it was a great, uplifting movie...
You have to give the film about 30 minutes to get rolling but
it is for sure worth the investment....

Jurassic World was what it was..
Big Lizards eating the stupid---always a people pleaser.
It gave me great material to use at home tho---
I told my JoJo that Velociraptors can apparently be trained
to a higher level than our Boston Terrier can achieve.

Did anybody out there ever figure out
what the plot was supposed to be in Terminator Genesis
or who anybody in the film was
actually supposed to be???
I sure as shit was unable to.

It is being claimed that one of the more unique elements
of Quantum Mechanics---
Spooky Action at a Distance has been proven beyond doubt.
Appears as if this concept is true?
Einstein was not a believer in Spooky action at distance.
It appears that he may have been wrong?
What this means is that someday, the transporter in Star Trek..
May be available to we mere humans?
Once the bugs are worked out of course.

I have either a great bargain or a rip-off in route.
I found a 50mm, Quartz movement, Marina Militare knock off on Amazon for
$19.00 with free shipping...
This will be a hero or zero purchase I am sure.
And---
Seiko is re-manufacturing a limited run of
the "futuristic" chronograph watch worn by Ripley in the film ALIENS.

I have coveted this watch from the first time
I viewed this movie...
This watch is just not going to happen for me
game over man.
Too expensive--
this remake is priced out of bounds for me.
I think that it is cool tho that Seiko recognizes the fact that this
watch is a landmark, both in watches
and Science Fiction movies.
