I hate daylight savings time.

Being a watch enthusiast, DST calls for tremendous effort

in realigning the watch collection back and forth between two phony time settings.

Designed to steal daylight from the individual's off hours

and give it to the owner/corporate overlords,

I hate daylight savings time.

Binge watching 7 years of Burn Notice on Streaming--
and
Last Days on Mars was movie night--
Enjoyed the correct technology used in the Mars movie
Enjoyed Levi Schreiber one of my favorite actors--
but still up in the air about the movie--
It was sort of like Zombies on Mars so to say.

As i am sure you know i have a thing for tape recorders,

 reel to reel and cassette.

Excellent cassette tape is hard to come by.

Now that only we insane geeks use it for music.

Denon tape is, in my opinion, one of the best brands.

Manufactured by a Japanese electronic firm started in 1939, Denon tape

is excellent in overall quality and when i see a new old stock

Denon tape offered for sale i tend to snarf it up if i can.

No longer produced and expensive.

When i open a still sealed, new old stock tape,

 I always wonder if this is the last time i ever do this?

That there will be no more? 

Started the re-paint project in the nerd cave today!

I was terribly sad to read Harold Ramis passed away this week.

I received my Russian Slava, Chinese movement watch:

It works, keeps decent time as long as you keep it 

wound by wrist movement.  

Completely and totally worth the $40.00 cost.

An especially excellent, heavy, solid casing.

I changed out the pure shit watchband 

that always comes with these types of watches,
for one i had in stock.

I also inlaid black paint in the rotating bezel numbers.
These little touches have made a decent difference in
both the appearance and feel of the watch.
No sense in posting photographs--
No one could see a difference except me.
I desperately need a success in the watchmaking world.
I was failing right and left at watch repair or modification i attempted.

I continue work on the Nerd Cave.
Painting is the next step---

Which will happen as time allows...

I have spent the last two weeks attacking the nerd cave.

Reorganizing.
Not just the room is the subject of my rampage,
but the hobbies, projects and equipment within.

Currently i have done more damage than good--

that is the way change is accomplished in the beginning. 

I have a great deal to do in there a bit at a time.
I am getting to a point where i may possibly be able to
begin painting.
Happy with the results so far tho.

I am trying my best to work out the alarm on my

Seiko 100M Chronograph.

I had to decode Seiko's model number system which was a

pilgrimage within itself--

Uncover a users manual on the web,

now i am simply attempting to decode how to operate the alarm

from a very non-user friendly manual...

A quest status at the moment....
which i may never be able to accomplish.

Still await the receipt of my Chinese/Russian, Slava mechanical, military wrist watch.

I cannot really expect to see it till early March.

On Amazon streaming i discovered a 

new (to me) stock of mst3k.

I am having MST3K festivals after JoJo goes
to bed.
You gotta be a fan to enjoy these....
It is an either/or.

Did i sound confused?

I am still working out the redesign/rebuild my nerd cave.
The problem is that i have an overwhelming amount of
projects going on in there--many of them going nowhere..
but still----important to me.
This is going to be a big rebuild--including paint...
I am in one of those mental zones whereas i feel
that everything needs to be reorganized---but
I cannot get myself to actually begin to do anything?

Perhaps it is the Winter--or that truly I 

need to hack through all the project/reorganization options available?

I am falling back on the thought that 

it will happen when it happens.

I will remain in the moment.

I have not built a watch in some time now.

I am planning on continuing to build or attempt to build watches in retirement.
I did sell a watch I built completely from parts during the Christmas season.
I could take that as a sign that i was doing something correct.
The problem is that

Matching parts are now extremely difficult to obtain.

I have started purchasing cheap mechanical watches as 

a possible parts source for the future.

When i see a cheap mechanical movement watch on Amazon

I order it---if it works--great---not then i have parts to stock.

My last purchase was a Russian Watch that I wound up

disassembling for parts to build one of my Frankenwatches in the future.
I have to admit however that i really fucked up the disassembly--
but i tell myself that is part of the learning curve.

My latest purchase is a Chinese manufactured, Russian CJIABA watch.

What has the world come to when the Chinese are knocking off, Russian Watches?

CJIABA was originally a watch manufactured by the Slava watch plant in the

Soviet Union. 

Slava translates as "GLORY".

I'll advise of the status of this watch after it arrives and i work with it for awhile
---be its destiny as parts or work wear...
