Well, we've just come by to see what you've done with all the grant money?

Super moon---
No Apocalypse,
As some fanatics predicted.
but--
People were strange the day it occurred?
Or was I the strange one?
It was beautiful tho--
NASA confirmed this week that there is water on Mars.
Where there is water there is life.
I believe they will find current life on Mars.
When they do-- will there be some completely freaked out
religious people?

Got waved at by the neighborhood, shopping cart, homeless guy?
Our neighborhood's---
(piled high with shit and push it around aimlessly)
shopping cart guy,
is notorious for never speaking, waving or
even acknowledging the presence of other humans.
He just pushes his huge pile of wheeled shit around the neighborhood
that's all he does...he's a specialist.
Today as I was driving the Pocket Rocket home from the car wash--
The shopping cart guy, on his own,
waved at me??
I am amazed that I actually managed to wave back--i was dumbfounded.
This was like the scene in Close Encounters--
Where they play the tones at the spaceship
And the aliens play it back at them...?
A miraculous little human bonding experience--
Until that is...
I got to thinking that he might have thought that
I was actually driving a shopping cart-
he may have thought we were philosophical brothers of some sort?
The wave then made sense.

My Buddies and I meet for coffee every two weeks.
Lately the talk has involved everyday carry materials and principles.
Since retirement I had done nothing about my EDC gear...
These conversations have inspired me to get back in the game
everyday carry wise.
I focused on small, hopefully undetectable material carry systems.
I have two new items in route.
First an anti-kidnapping kit for your watchband!
A watch band sleeve containing
a mini plastic handcuff key, nylon razor line and a
ceramic mini blade.
On the correct color, style and size watch,
this escape kit may avoid detection and
dependent on the circumstances allow one
to free themselves from plastic and metal restraints?
I am at this point unconvinced as to the
real-life usefulness of this item..if kidnapped?
This kit may make for a reassuring but practically useless
accessory on one of my big G-Shock watches?
But then again being prepared never really hurts
 does it?

The other item I have in route is a Bear Grylls survival belt.
I agree that much of the Bear Grylls survival goods marketing empire
is completely overrated.
But I did need a new belt.
I managed to purchase this item at an extremely reduced price.
This item is actually rated as a decent web belt, but also important to me
is the fact that..
this belt has two hidden compartments.
A small plastic compartment hidden behind the belt's buckle,
as well as a zipper compartment sewn into the belt's interior.
My concept is to re-stock the belt as a mini-survival kit?
I'll report on how all this works out?

I like this Pope--Francis
He's a real human, and speaks on issues that Popes should
lecture people about.
Conservative Republican politicians have
attacked the Pope, during his American visit, for well--- being a priest and
talking about treating people decently, Charity to the poor, taking care of children
to stop worshiping money, and that stuff about the golden rule--
Francis in his speech reminded America we should be an example for the world.
you know Priestly talk stuff---
Some Republicans called the Pope a Marxist
Fucking really now---????
A Marxist???
Sort of an absolute impossibility on that comment numb nuts!
So
the leader of the second largest religion on the Earth
calls for charity and consideration for all people,
and he gets hammered by those "born again" in American Politics?
I find it no surprise that on hearing the Pope speak...
John Boehner quit--
The Pope may have made him review the world he was involved in?
The really dangerous part is who the Republicans will pick as his replacement?
They are pretty deep into the clown car.

So...a particle accelerator in the TV show--- the Flash--- blows up
and gave the Flash his superpowers?
Anatoli Burgorski
stuck his head in an operating particle accelerator
in the Soviet Union in 1978.
A proton shot completely through his head???
and all he got was....
he had occasional complex partial seizures and rare tonic-clonic seizures.
No--The Flash like super powers at all for Antoli,
just a fuck of a headache.
I would have called bullshit on the premise of The Flash TV show but
My wife
(a big Flash fan)
rightfully pointed out that,
in the process of being lit up by a particle accelerator,
 one's experience could,
(as they say)
vary...
Hard to argue with her logic on that basis?
SO
My wife and I are old people who sit and argue the logical basis of
a minor, superhero's superpowers???
Are we cool or what?

This week wearing my:
Poljot Aviator.
Manufactured at the First Moscow watch factory.
The Poljot Aviator contains a Russian copy of the
Swiss Valjoux movement.
They say there were only 1000 of these watches made originally.
I got mine in Europe in the very late 80's-early 90's.

Please be careful, this will be boring.

Things have been complicated this week
resulting in a weak blog.
I won't even attempt to explain.

Yogi Berra died.

My Invicta, a copy of a 1958 Russian Hardhat divers watch.
50mm diameter.
It has run perfectly for years.
Yes the little hard hat diver guy on the watch's face is a modern addition
as is the calendar function and the GMT hand.
The original run of watches ordered by the Soviets were totally plain,
and 8mm larger than my current copy.
The Invicta is about as close as one can get to the original today.
I am considering an attempt to build a more perfect copy
this winter--if i can obtain the proper supplies?

I have, for all intents and purposes, I completed the TU-26 project.
No diorama for this large aircraft.
This was an older kit, without real detail.
It did however build up fairly well giving a decent representation of the aircraft.
I may detail yet a bit more--it's really hard to say at this point.
I have displayed it as if it is sitting on a runway preparing for take off.
I did add a 1/72nd figure to the runway at the front of the aircraft giving
the thumbs up--after this photograph was taken to give the aircraft perspective.
The next project will be the Mig-25 Foxbat.
A brute of a fighter aircraft...
One of the fastest, highest altitude aircraft ever in
mass production.
